Asa Ramsey (they/them)

Hello! I am a somatic bodyworker with a career background in education and youth violence prevention. I am not a therapist or counselor, and I practice from a teaching and learning orientation. The wisdom in your body is a teacher, and you and your ancestors (human and non-human) have learned how to survive. In addition to my somatic practice, I am a dedicated musician and visual artist. I currently reside in Tucson, AZ (O’odham land).

Intersecting Identities and Inspirations

I am queer, and non-binary/trans identified. My ancestral lineages are all racialized as white, coming from the regions of the British Isles, Norway, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy. In the states, my family has resided in the Southwestern region for many generations. I am committed to anti-racism work, including education, reparations, trauma healing, and abolition. I grew up in a mixed class, and then divorced home. My mother died in 2023. I was her death doula. I welcome death and grief practices into my personal and professional healing work. I am a fan of spiritual and 12 step mutual aid work. I own my business and have been in private practice since 2017.

I am still learning about all of these things, and commit my life to continuing to learn.

I feel honored to be in communities of people supporting and working for a safe and sustainable world for all beings, from the inside of our bodies to the streets of our communities.

Influences

My practice is anchored in my connection to the natural world, my studies and practice in buddhism, animism, somatics, grief work, sexual/relational healing, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, art and visual culture, music, percussion, anti-oppression, feminism, and social theory. I love to dance, play music, swim, hike, write poetry, play games with friends, and as much as possible feel connected and at home in my body.
